In 2019, the theme for International Women’s Day (IWD) was
Think equal, build smart, innovate for change.
This one was particularly close to our hearts, as it ties in so well with the EoT vision and mission.
Our vision is that one day every Canadian – regardless of gender, ethnicity, orientation, religion, ability or thinking style – understands the power of engineering to unlock and shape positive societal change. We look forward to a day when everyone understands there’s a place for them in engineering.
We believe that changing the messages that kids are receiving about engineering today, will result in a more gender balanced engineering profession in the future.
How are we doing that?
Through innovative STEM outreach.
Using a sustainable grass-roots model.
And supporting our volunteers with world-class training that integrates scientific research on how to create that impact.
We’re proud of the accomplishments we’ve achieved working towards gender parity.
DYK….32% of our EIR Program volunteers are women?!?
Sure, we still have a ways to go to get to 50%.
But, did you also know that only 17.8% of professional engineers licensed in Ontario are women?
We will continue to support everyone that believes in value of diversity. STEM outreach is really just one of the ways to have that conversation. There is lots of other great work being done to move the dial!
Happy International Women’s Day!
Let us know how you’re celebrating…🤝
