It’s true.
Our vision is that one day EVERYONE understands the power of engineering to unlock positive societal change.
Yes. We believe that telling better stories about engineering to KIDS will bring us closer to that vision.
BUT…
Imma let you in on a little secret!
By teaching engineers how to tell BETTER stories about engineering, we are helping them see that vision now!
It’s no secret that engineers are NOT well know for their communication skills.
So?
Here’s why SCIENCE COMMUNICATION matters.
Inform sound economic and policy decisions on the local, regional, national, and international scale
Increase support for research funding, and improve cross-disciplinary collaboration to solve the world’s greatest challenges
Help us make informed decisions for our families and ourselves
Create a sense of wonder and joy in the natural world around us
Build understanding, empathy and respect between people of different backgrounds and opinions*

It’s sort of a “two birds with one stone” situation we’ve got going on here.
By putting engineers up in front of kids, they are forced to LISTEN and CONNECT. Two keys to effective science communication!
By focusing on what the OTHER person is understanding, and using EMPATHY, we become better science communicators.
